Description: Our downtown client is looking to hire a Payroll Specialist, with 3-5 years of experience, who is looking to join a company to grow their career and expand their knowledge. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing payroll processes, administering pension benefit plans, and providing assistance to the payroll and accounting team.This position is ideal for applicants who thrive working in a team-orientated environment, are highly organized and have strong attention to detail, and excel at managing multiple priorities daily.

Key responsibilities:

Payroll:

Prepare more complex payroll and benefit correspondence
Communicate and resolve any employee concerns and/or questions regarding benefits and payroll
Review semi-monthly payroll
Provide assistance for payroll orientation with new employees
Assess all new hires benefits enrollment, terminations, and changes
Ensure compliance to Company policies and procedures
Prepare monthly and quarterly payroll and benefit statistics
Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of employee records as they relate to the organization and its customer
Pension and Benefits:

Administer company pension benefit plan
Review annual pension letters and annual pension returns
Assess group benefits plan and ensure accurate deductions are entered for payroll calculations
Accounting:

Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements and reporting
Review month-end working papers prepared by Senior Accounting Clerk
Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements:
Qualifications: 3-5 years of relevant experience
Holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree or equivalent
Completion of Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation
Actively working towards Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
Excellent communication skills, both in oral and written
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail
Ability to work and collaborate with a team
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience as required for this position
